Sargon II was the second king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire and ruled from 722 BC to 705 BC. He was a great military leader and conqueror, and he expanded the Assyrian Empire to its greatest extent. He is also known for his construction of the city of Dur Sharrukin, which was his capital.
