  • No reason was given

Answer

Sennacherib destroyed the city of Babylon because it defied his rule. The city had rebelled against him and he was determined to punish it. He laid siege to the city and eventually took it over. He then destroyed much of the city and killed many of its inhabitants. The city was not rebuilt for many years after this.
