MicroProse was founded by Sid Meier in 1982. The company was originally known as MicroProse Software and was based in Hunt Valley, Maryland. MicroProse initially developed games for the Apple II and Commodore 64, but later expanded to other platforms, including the IBM PC and the Amiga. Some of the most popular MicroProse games include Railroad Tycoon, Civilization, and X-Com. In 1996, MicroProse was acquired by Hasbro Interactive.
