Death indeed ended Sigismund's reign. Sigismund died of a heart attack on December 9, 1437, while on a hunting trip near Znojmo in Moravia. He was succeeded by his son-in-law, Albert II of Habsburg, who became King of Hungary and Croatia and King of Bohemia.
