Sophia of Hanover was the Electress of Hanover and the mother of King George I of Great Britain, but she never ruled as a queen. Her husband, George Louis, became King of Great Britain in 1714, and Sophia was his heir presumptive. However, she died before he did, so her son George I inherited the throne.
