Stefan Dušan was born in 1308, the son of Serbian King Stefan Uroš III Dečanski. He succeeded his father as king in 1321 and ruled until his death in 1355. During his reign, he conquered most of the Balkans and established the Serbian Empire, which was one of the most powerful states in Europe at the time.
