Stefan Uroš IV Dušan was a Serbian king and emperor, who ruled the Serbian Empire from 1331 until his death in 1355. He was the son of Stefan Dečanski and Helena of Bulgaria, and succeeded his father to the throne in 1331. Dušan was a capable and ambitious ruler, who expanded the Serbian Empire to its greatest extent.
