Following his release from prison, Bandera moved to Kraków. He remained in Kraków for several years, and it was during this time that he became involved in the Ukrainian nationalist movement. In 1929, Bandera helped to found the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), and he quickly rose to become one of the organization's most prominent leaders.
