Sung Y. Kim is the current U.S Special Representative for North Korea Policy. He was appointed by President Joe Biden in April 2021 and is responsible for leading the U.S. government's efforts to denuclearize North Korea and promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Kim is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience in the U.S. Foreign Service.
