Patrick Cowley was one of Sylvester's frequent collaborators and friends, and the founder of Megatone Records. He was a disco producer and musician who was known for his innovative use of synthesizers and drum machines. He worked with Sylvester on many of his hits, including "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and "I Need Somebody to Love." Cowley died of AIDS in 1982 at the age of 32.
