Answer
Józef Piłsudski's Poland allied with Symon Petliura's Ukrainian People's Republic during the Ukrainian War of Independence. This alliance was formed in April 1920, as both Poland and Ukraine sought to gain control of territories that had been part of the Russian Empire before its collapse in 1917. The alliance was short-lived, however, as Poland and Ukraine soon came into conflict over the control of Galicia.
