Tadeusz Mazowiecki was a Polish politician who served as the first non-communist prime minister of Poland after the fall of communism in 1989. Prior to entering politics, Mazowiecki was a journalist for a number of Polish newspapers and magazines. He also served as editor-in-chief of the Polish weekly magazine Polityka from 1974 to 1981.
