Ted Hughes was married to Sylvia Plath from 1956 to 1962. They were both poets and met at Cambridge University. They had two children together, Frieda and Nicholas. Hughes was very supportive of Plath's writing, but their relationship was often turbulent. They divorced in 1962, and Plath committed suicide later that year. Hughes was devastated by her death and wrote several poems about her.
