Dona Teresa Cristina was born in 1822 in the city of Naples, Italy. She was the daughter of King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies and Maria Cristina of Savoy. She was married to Emperor Pedro II of Brazil in 1843 and became the Empress of Brazil. She was a popular figure in Brazil and was known for her charity work. She died in 1889 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
