Which press commissioned the Subiaco type?

  • Nonesuch Press

  • Penguin Books

  • Oxford Press

  • Ashendene Press

Answer

The Subiaco type is a font inspired by the typography of the first printed book, the Gutenberg Bible, which was created by the German goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg in the mid-15th century. The font was commissioned by the Ashendene Press, a private press founded by the English artist and printer Charles Ricketts in 1895 and was released for public sale in 1902.
