Bialiatski's second imprisonment term began in 2021. Bialiatski was convicted of "conspiracy to commit treason" and "incitement to social hatred" in 2011, and sentenced to 14 years in prison. He was released in 2018, but was arrested again in 2021 on charges of "organizing mass riots" and "discrediting the Belarusian state."
