Who succeeded David Lange as Prime Minister?

  • Geoffrey Palmer

  • Helen Clark

  • Bill Rowling

  • Robert Muldoon

Answer

Geoffrey Palmer succeeded David Lange as Prime Minister of New Zealand in 1989. Lange had resigned after eight years in office, and Palmer, who had served as Deputy Prime Minister and Attorney-General, was chosen by the Labour Party caucus to replace him. Palmer's tenure as Prime Minister was brief, lasting only six months, as he lost the 1990 general election to the National Party led by Jim Bolger.
