Isabella of France was the queen of England and the mother of Edward III. She arranged for the possible murder of her husband, Edward II, after he was deposed and imprisoned in Berkeley Castle. There are a number of theories about how Edward II died, including that he was murdered by being smothered with a hot poker, but Isabella's role in his death is widely accepted.
