Answer
Bashir Gemayel was a Lebanese politician and militia leader who served as the president of Lebanon from 1982 to 1983. He was assassinated on September 14, 1982, in an attack by the Syrian-backed Lebanese Forces. The murder of Gemayel left a power vacuum that was eventually filled by Elie Hobeika, who served as prime minister from 1984 to 1989.
