George Mouzalon was a Byzantine nobleman who held the high office of Regent for Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos from 1328 to 1329. He was a member of the Mouzalon family and the nephew of the previous regent, Andronikos III Palaiologos. Mouzalon was appointed regent by Andronikos III on his deathbed in 1328. He was a capable and efficient administrator, but he was also a ruthless and ambitious man.
