Before becoming a spiritual reformer, Sri Aurobindo indeed worked in the civil service. After completing his education in England, he returned to India in 1893 and joined the Baroda State Service, where he served in various capacities for thirteen years. During this time, he gained valuable administrative experience and insights into the social and political realities of India.
