Hussein Farrah Aidid was born in 1962, the son of Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. He followed in his father's footsteps and became a militia leader, fighting against U.S. forces in the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993. After his father's death, he became the leader of the Habr Gidr clan and continued to be a prominent figure in Somali politics.
