In the Battle of Quebec, which took place on September 13, 1759, British General James Wolfe defeated French General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm on the Plains of Abraham outside Quebec City. Wolfe was mortally wounded in the battle and died the following day, while Montcalm succumbed to his wounds a few days later.
