Florence Harding succeeded Ellen Wilson as the First Lady of the United States when President Warren G. Harding was inaugurated in 1921. Wilson had been First Lady during her husband Woodrow Wilson's presidency from 1913 to 1921. Harding was a social and political force during her husband's presidency, and was known for her graciousness and love of entertaining. She died in 1924 at the age of 54.
