Magnus Hirschfeld was born on 14 May 1868 in Kolberg, Prussia (now Kołobrzeg, Poland). He was a German sexologist, physician, and homosexual rights activist. He was one of the first people to study human sexuality scientifically and to advocate for the rights of homosexuals. Hirschfeld founded the Scientific Humanitarian Committee in 1897, which was the first organization in the world dedicated to promoting the rights of homosexuals.
