Queen Ratna was the wife of King Mahendra of Nepal, who ruled from 1955 to 1972. She was born in 1928 and was the daughter of General Khadga Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana. She married King Mahendra in 1948 and they had two children, Crown Prince Birendra and Princess Shruti. Queen Ratna was a popular figure in Nepal and was known for her charity work.
