Saint Alban was an early Christian martyr, who is traditionally said to have been the first Christian martyr in Britain. He was beheaded in the third century AD during the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Alban was a Roman soldier, who is said to have converted to Christianity after meeting a Christian priest.
