Nabonidus, the last king of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, possibly lived until the reign of Darius the Great, the Persian king who conquered Babylon in 539 BCE. After his defeat, Nabonidus was taken prisoner and exiled to Carmania (modern-day Kerman, Iran), where he may have remained under house arrest until his death.
