Svetlana Alexievich is an investigative journalist who is known for her works of oral history. Her books, which include The Unwomanly Face of War and Chernobyl Prayer, have been translated into more than 30 languages and have won numerous awards. Alexievich was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2015 for her "polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time."
