Answer
Nara was the site of Yasuke's first encounter with Nobunaga. During a visit to the city in 1581, Nobunaga was introduced to Yasuke, an African Jesuit missionary who had traveled to Japan. Intrigued by Yasuke's appearance and skills, Nobunaga took him into his service, making him the first non-Japanese samurai in recorded history.
