Nikolai Platonovich Patrushev (born July 11, 1951) is a Russian politician who is currently the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, the highest position in Russia's domestic security apparatus. He previously served as Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) from 1999 to 2008.
