Kathleen Sebelius served as the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services from 2009 to 2014, during the presidency of Barack Obama. She was the first woman to hold the position. She was responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and also led the government's response to the 2010 H1N1 influenza pandemic.
