Luis Carrero Blanco was born on March 4, 1904, in Santoña, Cantabria, Spain. A naval officer, he served as Prime Minister of Spain from June 9, 1973, until his assassination by ETA on December 20, 1973, six months into his term. He also held the positions of Vice-President of the Spanish Government and Minister of the Presidency from 1967 to 1973, and Minister of the Interior from 1951 to 1967.
