Priest Leadbeater joined Theosophical Society after serving as a priest. He was ordained in the Church of England in 1879 and served as a curate in several parishes before becoming disillusioned with the church's dogma and practices. In 1883, he met Madame Blavatsky, the co-founder of Theosophical Society, and was deeply impressed by her teachings. He resigned from the priesthood and joined the society in 1884.
