Klaus-Georg Wilhelm, known as Prince Claus of the Netherlands, was born on September 1, 1926, in Rheda, Germany. He was the third son of Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld and Armgard, Baroness von Cramm. After receiving his education in Germany, he worked in various diplomatic roles before meeting Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, whom he married in 1966.
