Abram Fitkin was born on September 18, 1878. Fitkin was an American businessman who served as president and CEO of the H.K. Porter Company, , a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of locomotives, railroad equipment, and other heavy machinery, from 1919–29. The company became one of the largest builders of steam locomotives in the United States.
