Oscar I did not have any siblings. He was the eldest son of King Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, the founder of the current Swedish royal family, and Désirée Clary, former fiancée of Napoleon Bonaparte. Oscar had three younger sisters: Josephine, who became Queen of Sweden and Norway; Eugénie, who became Empress of France; and Sophie, who became Grand Duchess of Baden.
