Molotov fell out of Stalin's favour in 1949, and he lost his place as a leading diplomat. This was due to a number of factors, including Molotov's support for the Chinese Communist Party during the Chinese Civil War, and his opposition to Stalin's plans to create a communist bloc in Eastern Europe.
