Wallace Fard Muhammad, also known as Wallace D. Fard or W. D. Fard, was born in the United States circa 1877. He was a prominent leader of the African-American Islamic movement known as the Nation of Islam (NOI) from its inception in 1930 until his disappearance in 1934. Fard's religious philosophy emphasized racial separatism and black nationalism, and he claimed to be a prophet of Islam.
