Which case saw Burger abandon his support for Roe v. Wade?

  • Thornburgh v. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists

  • Harris v. McRae

  • INS v. Chadha

  • United States v. Nixon

Answer

In the 1986 case Thornburgh v. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Chief Justice Warren Burger abandoned his support for Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion. In his dissent in Thornburgh, Burger argued that Roe was wrongly decided and that the Constitution does not protect a woman's right to have an abortion.
