Answer

Sir William McMahon became Prime Minister of Australia at the age of 63, following the retirement of Harold Holt in December 1966. He was the first Australian Prime Minister to be born in the 20th century, and the first to be born outside of the state of Victoria. McMahon was a member of the Liberal Party, and had served as Treasurer in the Holt government.
