Answer
Xenon, a noble gas, was discovered by Sir William Ramsay in 1898. While studying the mineral cleveite, Ramsay isolated a new gas that was heavier than argon and krypton, which he had discovered earlier. He named the new gas "xenon," derived from the Greek word "xenos," meaning "stranger." Xenon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is present in trace amounts in the Earth's atmosphere.
