Answer
Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson left the Bahamas in 1945, after Edward's time as Governor of the Bahamas had ended. The couple had a difficult time in the Bahamas, as they were not well-received by the local population. They were also subject to a great deal of media scrutiny. Edward and Wallis eventually left the Bahamas for Europe, where they lived the rest of their lives.
