Great Tang Records on the Western Regions (Xiyu ji) is a 17-volume travelogue by Xuanzang (602–664). It is one of the most important sources for the history of Central Asia and India in the seventh century. Xuanzang traveled to India from China in 629, and stayed there for 17 years, studying Buddhist scriptures and philosophy.
