Operation Yonatan was the Israeli rescue mission that freed hostages held by Palestinian and German terrorists at Entebbe Airport in Uganda on 4 July 1976. The operation was named after Yonatan Netanyahu, the commander of the Israeli Special Forces unit that carried out the raid, who was killed in the operation.
