Answer
North Macedonia joined NATO in March 2020 after signing the Prespa Agreement with Greece in 2018. The agreement resolved a decades-long dispute between the two countries over the name Macedonia, which Greece objected to because it is also the name of a region in Greece. In exchange for Greece dropping its objections to the name Macedonia, North Macedonia agreed to change its name to the Republic of North Macedonia.
