Ahmed I was the 14th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, reigning from 1603 to 1617. He was born in Constantinople in 1590, and was the son of Mehmed III and his wife Handan Sultan. Ahmed I was a weak and indecisive ruler, and his reign was marked by political instability and military defeats. He died in 1617, and was succeeded by his son Mustafa I.
