Andronicus I Comnenus was the Byzantine emperor from 1183 to 1185. He was the son of Emperor John II Komnenos and Empress Irene of Hungary. Andronicus was a popular emperor at first, but he became increasingly unpopular as his reign progressed. He was eventually overthrown and killed by Isaac II Angelus.
