The majority of Bábí adherents converted to the Baháʼí Faith by the end of the 19th century. Bábism was a religious movement founded by the Báb in 1844. The Báb declared himself to be the messenger of God, and his followers became known as Bábís. The Báb was executed by the Qajar government in 1850, and the Bábí movement split into two main factions: the Azalis and the Baháʼís.
