Constance Markievicz was born on 4 February 1868 in London, England. She was an Irish nationalist and revolutionary, who was one of the seven signatories of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic. She was also the first woman to be elected to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, and the first woman to hold a cabinet position in the Irish Free State.
